Microsoft Extends XP Availability in New PCs

Microsoft has decided to lengthen the disposal of XP operating system in new PCs for another six months. In addition, users who want to downgrade from Vista Business or Ultimate to Windows XP would be able to do so until the end of July next year.Microsoft originally planned to cease XP distribution to major computer manufacturers after January 31, 2009. The company, however, opted to alter their policy and granted a six-month extension to XP. System builders would not get the same reprieve and would not be able to install Windows XP on the computers they assemble.Windows XP circulation has been put on hold last year to give way to Vista's end-user licensing agreement. Nonetheless, this did not stop users to downgrade from Vista to XP. A Microsoft spokeswoman revealed that XP would most likely be given another extension after July 2009.
